The fundraising efforts originally began in 1988 with the Nottawasaga Resort assisting with the Stevenson Memorial Hospital fundraisers. From 1988 until 2000 the Nottawasaga Resort helped raise funds yearly to support the necessary equipment upgrades at the Hospital.

Seeing the success of this fundraiser and understanding the needs of the community the Biffis & Lombardi families established the Nottawasaga Foundation in 2001 as a public foundation to carry on the spirit of the Nottawasaga Resort's previous years' highly successful Stevenson Memorial Hospital fundraisers. The main objective of the Foundation was to expand the scope of funding to include local charities that provide invaluable service to the community.

Supporting the hospital has remained a priority for the Foundation and since 2001 we have provided $1.8 million dollars in funding for projects including emergency room upgrades, the purchase of dialysis machines and Digital Mammography machine as well a new commitment has been made to help fund the new Urology Centre at the hospital.

To date the Nottawasaga Foundation has raised more than $3.5 million dollars with their highly successful one day golf tournament and has helped countless local charities and community programs in Simcoe County. Some of these charities include the Sir Frederick Banting Homestead, Children's Aid Society, Alzheimer Society, Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Hospice Simcoe and more.
